Sunset driving directions and starlight trips are available from Hilo with Arnott's Adventures, and on the Kona side, there is the Summit & Stars Give Back Experience offered by Hawaii Forest & Trail. If you don't want to spend time standing in line or having to settle for an inferior meal, you should make dinner reservations in advance. Unless you're staying in Honolulu, where shuttles, public buses, and ride-share options abound, having no means of transportation may make getting about the islands time-consuming and costly.
